Catching up with Belgian rider and fashionista June Peeters

We haven’t seen her in the ring for a while. So, we decided it is about time to catch up with the ever-cheerful June Peeters.

June has just returned from the United Arab Emirates where she competed in the 2-star Ladies Show of Abu Dhabi. She joins team AS Sport Horses which is managed by Abdel Saïd. A unique setting to build up slowly again as a year and a half ago she had quite a harsh fall in Azelhof Lier (Belgium) and broke her back. The rehabilitation was serious, and June didn’t want to be back in the saddle again. However, once bitten by the horse bug it’s hard to let go if this lifestyle and so she started building up slowly again.

Apart from the show life June is very interested in fashion items as well. So, we asked June to tell a bit about her adventure in Abu Dhabi.

I feel very comfortable in Abu Dhabi. It’s a super nice show and there is no pressure. For me the ideal circumstances to build up again.

Besides horses, my other passion is fashion and styling. At the moment, Dior must be one of my favorites. They have done an amazing rebranding which I really like, especially the Rodeo collection! Balenciaga is another one of my favorites and I love to combine these brands with for example items from Zara, &Other Stories, Monki, Asos… I’m really looking forward to the SS19 collections. One of my favorite hypes this winter was to combine neon with neutral or black items, so cool! The summer collections are all about “less is more” and colors, but then again not too much.

My show outfit mainly consists of items from Cavalleria Toscana. I wear a Winston show jacket and Parlanti boots topped off with my personalized Samshield Ladies cap.

In between classes I usually wear an oversized sweater. Nice and loose! Our team, AS Sport Horses, also has its own brand. Sanny, Abdel’s wife, is a designer and she designs cool sweaters, t-shirts and even backpacks! So, you will definitely see me around wearing these items.

For myself, I would love to develop something in the fashion industry with eyes on the horse industry. Nowadays I feel everyone looks kind of the same and it’s time for change!
