Out and about – Jumping Mechelen

Jumping Mechelen must be one of the highlights of the season when it comes to top sport in Belgium. The 5-star event holds 3 World Cup qualifiers amongst other classes and entertainment. On top of that there are various exhibition stands at Jumping Mechelen.
A pleasant stroll through the streets of the cozy indoor fair is a must for any visitor. Chances are high you will head home with a souvenir, a late Christmas present or a memory of a pleasant conversation with an exhibitor who shares the same passion.

We spoke with two leading ladies in the sport to find out what they do during Jumping Mechelen.

Zoe Conter
What do you do when you have some spare time during the show?
Usually I stroll around the stands in the Nekkerhal. If I have a lot of time I go home to keep my other horses in shape.

Do you go to the city center/ any favorite spots?
I don’t really tend to go into the city but if I do you can find me on the “Grote Markt” which is the central square in the historic center and dominated by St Rumbold’s Tower.

What do you do when you have some spare time during the show?
I love to do some shopping whenever I compete in big cities. At home I don’t really have the time to do this so for me it’s definitely something I do when I have some spare time.

Do you go to the city center/ any favorite spots?
I am not very familiar with the city center of Mechelen. The riders hotel has a very nice central location next to the river.

Keep your eyes open when you walk through the stands, you will find a lot of riders stretching their legs there. At night everyone usually goes to the bar to catch up with each other.

Hope you will enjoy your time at Jumping Mechelen!
